Shot-lok patterns well beyond 40 yards. It also works well up close at 20 yards. I've only harvested one tom so far with this load at about 25 yards. It only took one shot. The pattern was not so tight at 25 yards that it took his head off. No bb's were found in the meat.

Long beard works well on turkeys if you get close enough.Unlike Cabelas, Midway, etc, OpticsPlanet actually had it in stock.Price was a little high. But better high price than no ammo.Bought two boxes to avoid paying a ridiculous shipping charge.I wouldn't say shipping was fast or anything. But they did get it here in a reasonable time.

Have used these in the past. Always go bang, which is a great start. The pattern is good on standard full choke, but couple with a purpose built choke and you get something special. After testing, ordered plenty of these to last though a few seasons, along with a few boxes to practice with.

The Winchester Long Beard XR 12 gauge 2oz. #5 shot works great and Optics Planet shipped in timely manner!! As with all shotshell loads spend the extra $$ money to try at least 3 different Choke Constrictions or types of Chokes to acheive the optimum pattern results you are desiring to have. If its extra tight or more of a open/evenly spaced pattern.. i go with a extra tight pattern since I cannot use a mouth call proficiently,, so I cannot move my hands once Turkey is in sight, therefore i have to be able to ethically kill from 60-65 yards with high success kill percentage! I have found with penetration tests that #5 does this best also!! Pattern test at a measured 40 yards from end of gun barrel to target for comparisons, after selecting best pattern u desire, then determine your maximum killing range.. could be 55 yards or may be 65 yards but you need to know your max distance! And as always shoot more than one shot with each combo since shotguns can shoot one outstanding and the next shell may not be as great?? You are just taking a average of the overall best pattern! I use a Pringles Chips Can base ( which is a 3” circle) to draw a circle in center of pattern and do a pellet count! Remember to do all comparisons on the same weather conditions day, otherwise your comparisons will not be accurate., take all this pattern testing as you may, but is a proven way to establish your goals with what type of pattern u are looking to achieve!! Good Luck Hunting and you owe it to the Game to be OCD with whatever choke/ammo/gun combo you decide to go with!! We don’t want injured animals running around!

Excellent extended range and hard hitting turkey rounds. Pattern density is great out to fifty yards with factory chokes and even farther when adding specialty chokes. Would recommend them for hunting more open country where birds can hang up just out of the fourty yard kill zone.

Got my gun patterned out at 50 yards with the 3.5” #5 shot and I’m impressed. A lot cheaper than some other options and I’m fully confident this will get the job done as far as I need to get it done.
