You can create custom shot cartridges with a different shot size or velocity with our Empty Speer Shot Capsules. Simply fill them with your favorite size shot (not included) snap in the base wad and load like a conventional bullet. Shot Capsules are available in 44-caliber and .45 Colt (25 count) and .38/.357 (50 count) and include base wads. Loading data is available in the Speer Reloading Manual. Note: Intended for short-range pest and varmint control. Not recommended for self-defense. Not for use in firearms having ported recoil compensators. I have an old 44-40 (also known as 44XL) single shot that needed ammo. The 44 caliber shot capsules are perfect for the application, and easy if you have any inclination toward reloading at all. Prime the cases,add powder and push a capsule full of shot into the case by hand. I shoot in a single shot so I don't crimp (don't have to risk breaking the capsule from over crimping and extends life of the cases). You would want to lightly crimp if using in a revolver. The capsule base acts as a wad, so you only need cases, shot, capsules, powder, and primer to be able to load.
