The 6.5mm/.264 inch bore has recently enjoyed a resurgence of interest. Several rifle manufacturers currently produce 6.5x55mm sporters, exposing a new generation of shooters to this famous old Scandinavian service and hunting cartridge. Competitive HighPower and Silhouette shooters have also shown great interest in the 6.5mm bore size. The 107 grain 6.5mm HPBT bullet #1715 is the lightest of the 6.5mm MatchKing. It is appropriate for the magnum cartridges as well as smaller capacity cartridges in this caliber. While they are recognized around the world for record-setting accuracy, MatchKing and Tipped MatchKing bullets are not recommended for most hunting applications. Although MatchKing and Tipped MatchKing bullets are commonly used for varmint hunting, their design will not provide the same reliable explosive expansion at equivalent velocities in varmints compared to their lightly jacketed Hornet, Blitz or Varminter counterparts. I hand loaded the 107’s in my Alexander Arms 18” Hunter AR 15 and I originally thought they were too light for what I wanted. Due to the demand recently it’s been very hard to find anything so these were only thing In stock I had found in months so I bought em. I was very pleased and impressed with the results. I hunt coyote and white-tail with my Grendel and they done their job on both animals dropping everything in its tracks and I shoot suppressed and it sounded like I shot a 55 gal drum full of water!
