Norma Ammunition (RUAG) 299740020 Self Defense 9mm Luger 108 gr Monolithic Holl – The Monolithic Hollow Point (MHP) puts Norma on the radar for the concealed carriers and self defenders. This robust bullet is known for great expansion and will get excellent penetration as well. Its programmed to perform regardless of barrel length/velocity. The MHP out-expands all other 9mm projectiles and features a non-leadmonolithic material. This combination of toughness and expansion transfers massive energy to target and stops threats immediately. No over-penetration or pistol size concerns. Just peace of mind when you need it most. I can sum this up with one word… Fantastic, I mean to tell you very little recoil and reliable, lots of knock down power, would highly recommend. Thank you BOB#8 that's all folks been robbed 3 times never again

I do like this ammo but with that said I only carry this in the summer. With the design of the bullet it can get clogged when testing in multiple clothing layers. I does not reach the advertised velocity and at best reaches 1150fps. That is actually ok for me because it makes for less of an over penetration risk. With the lower speed and massive expansion. As firearms owners we have to be accountable for every projectile fired. Barrier blindness can also be an issue with this ammo as well. Only because it will not perform as advertised after being fired through a solid surface(e.g. walls, windows, doors). I have seen that if the bullet impacts a hard target first. It will become damaged and not open up as shown on the box. When it comes to soft targets this projectile is phenomenal and for that reason. This is my summer time daily carry. The price on this site is very high and would make it not worth buying for me.

For some reason, the review proceeding mine is not about the ammunition at all. It's a review about YouTube videos that the user claims to have seen that were tests of this ammo in clear gel and ballistics gel. To make matters worse, after I watched every video on Youtube about Norma MHP, his claims that these rounds only expand half the time is patently false.

Have read a dozen reviews and several testing videos on YouTube using this ammo. In the gel tests sometimes it expanded, sometimes it did not. In absolutely none was it even close to 1300 fps! More like 1100/1150, just like everything else out there. At over a dollar a shot, it is just not worth it.
