Accuracy and terminal performance are the cornerstones of Hornady Precision Hunter? factory loaded ammunition. Great care has been given by Hornady engineers to develop superior match-accurate hunting loads that allow the ELD-X? bullet to achieve its maximum ballistic potential. Propellants used in the Precision Hunter? ammunition line are clean burning and loaded to uniform capacity for consistent shot to shot results regardless of temperature. This attention to detail provides the highest levels of accuracy and performance uniformity for the most demanding and diverse hunting situations. Featuring the radically superior ELD-X? bullet with patent-pending Heat Shield? tip Precision Hunter? is the ideal load for ANY hunting situation because of its effective terminal performance at ALL practical ranges. Features: Best-in-class BCs- Verified by Doppler radar the Heat Shield? tip defies the effects of aerodynamic heating and retains its shape to maintain the highest in-class BC over its entire trajectory. Match accurate hunting bullet- Streamlined secant ogive with optimum boattail design + highly concentric AMP bullet jackets + patent pending Heat Shield? tip combine for radically superior aerodynamic efficiency. Devastating conventional range performance- With high velocity 0-400 yard impact the bullet continually expands throughout its penetration path. The thick shank of the jacket and high Interlock ring keep the core and jacket together providing 50-60% weight retention. Best extended range terminal performance available- Upon low velocity 400+ yard impacts the Heat Shield? tip drives backward into the bullet to initiate expansion. Exhibiting expansion with a large mushroom and 85-90% retained weight the bullet provides deep penetration and large cavities. Available as component bullets or in factory loaded Precision Hunter? ammunition. Buy Hornady ammo to get bullets that are accurate, consistent, and always dependable. Never have I had factory ammo out shoot my hand loads. This stuff shoots lights out! My groups are all 3/4" or better and my last group measures .28" with a 2fps e.s measured over a lab radar. The only issue is that it is back ordered until who knows when. Hornady whatever magic you are doing over there is absolutely amazing and I can't thank you enough. Please please please make this powder available to us hand loaders.

Fast and exactly what I ordered! Haven’t had a chance to shoot yet. Will do that once my scope comes in in the next couple of months. Hope that it will take down an elk at 600 yards. I have nothing else to say.

Most companies push tipped bullets for accuracy and rapid expansion. Which is great if your hunting coyotes or squirrels. This is just one of a few tipped bullets that will drive through medium sized game (deer) without exploding into pieces. Through a older Browning A-bolt, I'm getting 1.5 to 1.75 at a 200 yard zero. Remember, that a hunting bullet is what you want. Target or Predators bullets do work great on medium size game, but require precision shooting into the vitals – no bones. I practice, but I'm not perfect, things happen. I want a bullet capable of driving from stem to stern or through both shoulders without exploding. This bullet has performed as expected on numerous bucks. Also, don't be fooled into thinking that you have to have a 140 or 150 grain bullet all the time in everything you shoot. FYI – Go look at the picture of bullets – cut in half – that some companies says are made for deer and for deep expansion, then go look at the their pictures of bullets for rapid expansion on small GAME – lots of time its the same bullet and same picture!!

This ammo is extremely accurate in my rifle without question but beyond that is junk. Have shot 3 whitetails with it. One about 80 yds, one about 120 yds and one about 200 yds and in all cases the bullet completely disintegrated with no exit wound. These animals were shot in the ribs behind the shoulder or in the liver area. I would never trust this on a large animal. Contacted Hornady and was told that this was normal performance as it is designed to expand properly at 400 yds and beyond. I asked about the pictures on the box showing bullets at higher velocities that that range and was told those where pictures from a 300 PRC and since the velocity was much higher they were equivalent to long range performance. Plan on selling the remaining boxes I have.

If it doesn't drop them in place, it leaves an awesome blood trail. Plus, it shoots really good out of most of my rifles. It's an awesome cartridge. I only have 2 rifles that do not like it. Great job Hornady.

Love the ELDX ammo. Excellent accuracy and phenomenal downrange killing power.
