Berger Hybrid Hunter Rifle Bullets are ideal for handloaders looking to tune their own customized big game cartridges. Berger has built them with their Hybrid Ogive for impressive accuracy under field conditions. No need to have a top-end customized rifle, these will still perform impressively with an off-the-shelf rifle chambered in .270 Winchester. The Berger .270 Classic Hunter has a slightly thinner J4 Precision jacket specifically designed for big-game applications. The Berger Classic Hunter .270’s promise penetration up to 2 to 3 inches and wound cavities up to 15 inches. This is because the bullet begins shedding off weight upon impact, where it expends the remaining energy into expansion inside the animal. This is one-shot dropping power for the hunter who wants both accuracy and an ethical kill. Near the bearing surface, the shape starts off as a tangent, which makes it easy to tune, then transitions to a secant ogive, which results in a flatter trajectory and less wind drift. The consistent core eliminated the need to sort bullets by weight. This feature gives you more reliable drop, consistent BC, and better accuracy. Boat Tail bullets provide an aerodynamic advantage at longer ranges over their flat base counterparts, especially while transitioning from transonic to subsonic velocities. J4 Precision Bullet Jackets are the most consistent and concentric copper jackets in the world holding an unprecedented +/- .0003 inch tolerance. J4 hunting jackets are produced slightly thinner to allow for 2-3 inches of penetration before rapidly expanding, producing extreme hydrostatic shock and a massive wound cavity. Tried these bullets for the first time on a Texas hunt a few weeks ago. I was running the 140gr in my 270WSM and my son the 135gr in his 6.5 Creed. Both deer expired within 10 yards of getting hit with almost identical 2" exit wounds. Accuracy if phenomenal in both rifles with 10 shot groups conistenly just a hair over .5 MOA. Couldn't ask for more. We waited for perfect broadside shots and had exits on both. I was a bit concerned at first since Bergers have a rep of not going through but this wasn't the case at all.
